a Darron J Connett Mixtape......................

days of pearly spencer...david mcwilliams
obviously i first heard this by marc almond in the early 90s,but love this original version, its a great story with to me sort of kitchen sink lyrics plus those strings are pretty special and great affect on the vocals that you still here today.

yes...mcalmont and butler...pop music how it should be,very spector in its delivery by probably one of the most underated singers in the country with the riffs of a true britpop superstar,a breath of fresh air at the time.

alone again or...love...makes me want to live on the west circa 1966,just a fantastic song, arthur lee's vocal was actually the harmony to mcleans who wrote it,but they turned up arthur and turned down mcleans, its knowing your place in life i guess.

hang on to your ego...beach boys, the alt to i know theres an answer from pet sounds, but the label didnt like the lyrics.how wrong were they?

I am the ressurection...the stone roses..saw beady eye at the troxy and this was played before they came on,it was like a spiritual gathering singing it with 5000 other fans, made me realise how powerful music can be and make you feel.

wichita line man...glen campbell...would of seen this as old man music 10 years ago then i saw the video and remember thinking wow the rhinestone cowboy was once a cool dude, that and galveston were written by jimmy webb for campbell and he nailed the pair of them.

fool on the hill...the beatles.love most beatles songs but right now im really into magical mystery and this song is perfection,i never want it to end, thats its problem it should of been 15minutes long hahaha.it really conjures up some nice imagery too,i love lots of music around now but 65-72 was a special time wish i was around then with my rose tinted glasses.

if i can dream...elvis presley.my mum love Elvis so its ingrained, some time we watch the 68 come back special and this powerful performance affirms to me why he is the king, that jammy git had the lot.

help me make it through the night...john holt..i really love his phrasings and growing up in shepherds bush there was alot of reggae around and seem like every house hold had 1000 volts of holt in the early 80s,because everyone i know from that manour knows all the words that and the greatest hits of rod stewert, great memories of my childhood and both today as massive influence on my singing.

life on mars..david bowie...this was his answer for getting knocked back after trying to put english lyrics to a french my way, paul anka got the job! but it shows his diversity and genius when all his contemporys were banging out glam rock stompers,he was also very individual which im drawn to' the same way as say scott walker/morrisey/weller were in their prime.the latter two still write great songs and are as cool as even in their 50s some people will always to 21 in the eyes of the world...

not a list of songs that people would maybe associate with me but a little clue to what my solo album might sound like, thanks for your time in reading my list of some of my favourite songs.
