Groovy Uncle is now available to listen to on Spotify (i've spent the whole afternoon 'grooving' to his tunes), downloadable on itunes and from his website as a limited vinyl issue, you have to at least have a listen!
first track is 'count on me', sounds like cavern club beatles, in fact most of the tracks do. If you love this sound all these songs sound so familiar but in a good way. To me there is a place in this world for music that makes you smile, maybe glenn will hate me for this but some of the tracks sound like the Rutles and Neil Innes, is that a bad thing? I don't think so at all. I can even hear some Scarlet Party in there, but hey, hang on a bit isn't that just the glorious scene they call the medway? This is beat music for the 2000's!
Great thing is too that the longest song clock's in at just over 3mins 30secs, so as soon as your bored of one track its time for another, joy no long boring guitar wanking! It's a shame that these days the impact of singles has diminished because there are so many tracks on this album that would make really good ones.
'it wasn't what I asked for' is a mood changer, a song with angst, it sounds like a lost song from the pretty things 'S F Sorrow'. Alot of these songs though have thoughtful meaningful lyrics, so don't be fooled by the good tunes. They sound like they're recorded by someone who is clearly enjoying what he's doing, and i like that!
The songs are whimsical, a little psychedelic, very much beat music, very groovy! very groovy uncle!
