Live Review: Beady Eye - Edinburgh Corn Exchange (18th April, 2011)

many thanks again to Ian Shillinglaw - the blog's ace live reporter!

For some strange reason i was late at this gig and missed the support band Penguins. Pity as the people around me seemed to think they rocked.I must be getting old and slow !

The atmosphere at this gig was ''lively'' to say the least. Just a large rectangle like many other corn exchanges around the country it seemed filled with with singing ,dancing and yes funny walks as people had taken too much falling down juice. Shocking !

The build up followed the same as other gigs with many 70's classics and a huge singalong to I Am the Ressurection before Eye came on. Mr Gallagher was in fine form as were the band and they apppear to be getting better the more gigs they play. They were certainly a step up from the Barrowlands gig in March which is saying something. Four Letter Word started powerfully causing riots in the audience but the main highlinght for me was The Roller (again !) and Three Ring Circus. The new single Millionare got a great response from the crowd.

The encore of Wig Wam and Sons of the Stage was however easily the best of the night. Epic yet subtle at the same time.Rare.

And then it was over and out into the night with many other happy slightly drunk ( very drunk in some cases ) people only to see the Beady Eye tour bus speed away into the night to destroy the next venue. A good night.
